A feature of the polling was the short shrift given to independent candidates. Practically in every case they arc being badly out-run.

Though, far from complete, the Senate figures are beginning to take shape. In New South Wales the Liberal bunch aro leading; Sir A. Gould with 117,888, Mr Millon with llo,o(j;), and Mr Oakes with 114,637, the nearest Labour candidate Ibcing Mr Grant, with 106,875 votes.
