MR. CAWTHRON INCREASES HIS GIFT.

Wellington, May 14. In connection with the proposed solar physics observatory, .Miss Proctor, the astronomer, Mho has just returned from NolwMi, informed a "Post" reporter that Mr. Cawthroh would be prepared to give £15,000 for the solar observatory. This would be sufficient for the establishment and maintenance of a staff, and it was possible that stellar work could be undertaken. The Fringe, Nelson., commended itso.f to her as a suitable site, but the site would be determined by tho expert from England. Nelson people, Miss Proctor added, had generously offered sites, all 'of which would receive attention.
