AN INQUIRY TO BE HELD

Timaru, May 14. A. Magisterial inquiry has %een petitioned for, and is to be held on the 26th, into the validity of the Mayoral election. Tho petitioners say: (1) There were only 28 votes between Mr England at tho ton, and Mr Hawkey next, and 42 votes *ro stated to have been informal; they assert that some were not really informal, and should have been allowed; (2) that some persons were improperly refused papors; (3) that improper influence was used at certain booths.
