A conference between tho Thames .miners and mine owners proved resultless. The miners demanded generally a minimum wage of 10s, with 11s for wet shafts, rises and wings. Tho companies' representatives agreed to give tho present minimum rates applying to the Waihi district. This was not acceptable to the men, and the matter will now go before the Arbitration Court.
