Waihi, March 2!). The Conciliation Council composed pt Mr. T. Harle- GiT.ies, Commissioner and asossors commenced its local sittings yesterday and concluded tins afternoon. In the matter in dispute between the Ohinommi branch of the Amalgamated Society of Engineers and the local mining companies, it was agreed that 45 hours should constitute <i week's work, and in wot places 6 hour shifts should be employed. .Regarding apprenticesthe issuing of certificates for scrvico of timo was syrced to. The minimum wage for tradP'Smen serving 5 years' apprenticeship, or 5 years continuously in one company, was fixed at 11s. Youths' wages wore sot down at: First year 4s per day, second ss, third 6s, fourth 7s, -fifth Bs, after this tncy^recuivp journey-mon's wages. Tho proceedings wore characterised by the utmost good feeling on both sides.
