A COLLINGWOOD PIONEER.
Under date 24th irist our Collingwood, correspondent writes : — ■ I am sory to chronicle the death of another of the earliest settlers, in the person of Mr. Jplm James, senr., who died this morning at the age of 81 years. He was one of the first who landed in Nelson at the ago of 13 "years with his mother, who died in Nelson, his father and younger brother having died on the way out. His sisters, Mesdames Bennet, Smallbone, and Stanton have Predeceased him, and ono other brother, Mr. Edward James, is still alive. He loaves a widow and seven daughters, Mesdames Stallard, 'Walker, "Wigzell, lorns, Coyle, Strange and Sigley, also four sons, Messrs J. James, F. James T. James, and G. James, all of whom are married, forty-six grandchildren and 11 great grand children. #: The deceased came to Collingwood m the cutter Supply, Captain Walker, "on August 5th,^1855, only, one other settler, the late Mr. John Ellis,' having arrived before him, six weeks earlier. Mr. and Mrs'; John James and their family have been greatly respected by all here and allvfiympathise with the relatives in their bereavement.
