A Press Association message from Feikling aim-ounces the sudden death of Dr Monckton, he dropping dead at his gate on Friday afternoon. DeCeased for a short time resided in Nelson prior to his going to the North Island. Deceased - was an army surgeon in England, but for the 1 last thirty yearsjie has resided in I different parts of New Zealand. It 1 was only last week he wrote offering some of his land in Nelson for sale. • A Press Association message from Palmerston North states that Sergeant Stagpool, who is leaving therfc for Oamanr,, has been tendered various presentations. He received a Masonic presentation, and on Saturday evening at a public gathering the Mayor handed Mrs Stagpool a purse of sovereigns as a token of the esteem in which her husband is held. The local Rugby Union presented a travelling rug, the sergeant being a vice-president of the Union.
