DISAFFECTION AMONG- THE WAIRARAPA AND HUTT NATIVES.
The Wellington Evening Post, of November 28, states :—"A number of Wairarapa natives camo down yesterday as far as the Hutt, on their way, ifc is said, to Otaki. There were fifteen on horseback, and a good many more in a conveyance which they had hired or boi-rowed from Mr. M'Masters. At the Hntt we learn they were joined by forty more. The principal personage amongst them is called To Hiko, from Tahitarata, and is well known in the Wfurarapa. Whatever their intentions may be, their movements seem to excite some surprise among people acquainted with them." The same paper of the 30th, states: — " From a gentleman who came in from Paikaikairiki yesterday, we learn that the Wairarapa and Hutt, natives who went towards Otaki last week, are still encamped at Porirua Ferry. Some of them haveopenly announced their intention of procuring all the recruits they can muster, and proceeding along the Coast. Some means ought to be devised f.;r cheeking the movements of these gentlemen —if they aro allowed to go on, they will certainly cause somo mischief to take place."
