SELWYN PARK
USE AS CAMPING SITE IMPROVEMENTS SUGGESTED As requested, an officer of the Auckland Automobile Association furnished a report on Selwyn Park as a camping site to Monday night’s mleeting of the Te Awamutu Domain Board. The report indicated some evidence of general neglect, and conveniences for men were required. It was stated also that there was no plan of the sites, and the clerk said that pre-supposed the appointment of a permanent caretaker. Mr H. G. Babbage, in supplementing the report, said that generally the conveniences were good. Tfie Park needed cleaning un, and he suggested that the matter should be referred to a committee who should go into the regulations, etc. Hje suggested referring it to Messrs Williams and Chunn, who were the Borough Council Parks Committee.
Mr Hopping favoured the Park being brought up to A.A. requirements.
Mr Russell said every other town had a camping area. It was agreed that the Park should be made attractive. The clerk said that £ll 8s had been received in camping fees this year. It was decided, on the motion of Mr Shepherd, to leave the matter in the hands of the Parks Committee to go into the regulations and report back to the next mleeting of the Board.
