Other resolutions which it was decided to forward to the National Council are as follows: “That in view of the easing in the demand for manure due to the changed position in market gardening, application be again made for organic fertiliser for maize growers at the rate of lewt of blood and bone an acre in place of a similar quantity of superphosphate.” It is strongly felt that organic, fertiliser is essential in this district in order.to bring the maize yield up to a more economic “That while fully appreciating the endeavours made by the National Council to secure for farmers the option of either serpentine super or superphosphate it has come to the knowledge of our members that unfortunately the right of freedom of choice is not working out in practice, as manufacturers are in some cases supplying straight super where serpentine super is ordered.” “That hand pieces be made available to shearers at the earliest possible date.” “That six inch barbed wire be made available to all farmers who require it, and if this is not yet possible, that a proportion of six inch wire be made available to all purchasers of barbed wire if so desired.” Advice was received from the Director of the Fields Division, Department of Agriculture, that no soldier labour would be available in an organised scheme for harvesting this year.
