PATRIOTIC APPEAL

MEETING OF EAST ZONE COMMITTEE What was expected to be the final meeting of the East Zone Patriotic Committee was held in the Waipa County Council Chambers yesterday. Mr A. E. Bryant presided over a small attendance. It was reported that four areas in the' district had been cleaned up, leaving three yet to be finalised. It was decided to ask the secretary of the Central Executive for the completed list of the whole district and after that list was available, it was left to Mr Bryant and Mrs Allan Kay, the secretary, to see that those who had not given be contacted. Mrs Allan Kay said the Ladies’ Patriotic Committe were holding a ball on Halloween Eve and she asked if the country districts would assist in the way of donations for the savoury supper that is to be a feature of the function. Those present promised to assist and it w’as left to the secretary to get in touch with people in the district. Mr Bryant said he was very pleased to have been associated with the East, who had done well over the years. The workers had been keen and co-operative and the successes achieved was due to that spirit of co-operation. On the motion of Mr G. S. Hall, appreciation of the services of Mr Bryant as president and Mrs Allan Kay as secretary was placed on record. It was left to Mr Bryant to call another meeting if deemed necessary.
