Leading-Aircraftsman lan M. Anderson, of Te Rore, returned to his home last week-end after being on service in the Pacific.
Flight Lieutenant W. G. Hitchcock, son of Mr W. J. Hitchcock, Kawhia, has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Gross.
The engagement is announced between Vincent Ritchie, eldest son of Mr and Mrs E. J. Hyde, of Kawhia, and Leonne May, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs L. Anderson, of Hokawhitu, Palmerston North.
Messrs J. T. Johnson (chairman), M. Barnett (secretary-manager), and E. Bryant (electrical engineer), of the Te Awamutu Electric Power Board, are in Wellington attending the conference of the Electric Power Boards and Supply Authorities’ Association.
Mr N. Grimshaw, who has been manager of the local Self Help store, has severed his connection with that firm to take up business on his own account at Frankton Junction. Mr E. T. Meehan, of Wellingtcni, succeeds Mr Grimshaw’ in Te Awamutu.
Mrs Bruce Jones, of Mangapiko, left on Wednesday night for Wellington where she joined the Rangitikei on its voyage to America. Mrs Jones will re-join her husband in Newark, near New York. Her mother, Mrs E. A. W. Clarke, and her aunt, Mrs G. Farrell, journeyed to Wellington to see Mrs Jones off.
Flight Sergeant Roy Savill Owen, of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, has returned to his home after spending nearly four years as an instructor. During the past three years he has been instructing N.C.O. at various North and South Island stations. Flight Sergeant Owen is the second son of Mr and Mrs Z. Owen, Pirongia.
