WOMEN’S DIVISION
KORAKOiNUI BRANCH A most interesting afternoon was spent in Korakonui Hall on Friday afternoon by the ladies of the district W.D.F.U. A picture competition was won by Mrs Lethbridge and the stamp collection by Mrs Orr. During the afternoon Mrs Kerr gave a demonstration on spinning and a talk on wool washing, dyeing and knitting. On display was a number of knitted articles made from home spun wool. Of most interest was a double bed size blanket which Mrs Kerr had made. A pleasant little ceremony was the presenting of a cookery book and posy to Miss Maddern who is to be married soon. Mrs Spraggs, the retiring secretary, was also presented with posies from the president who thanked her for her help during their three years’ work together. Flowers and vegetables were then judged, Mrs McDonald winning the flower with Mrs Wheatley second, Mrs Orr third. Best vegetable, Mrs Orr. Afternoon tea brought a pleasant afternoon to a close. The hostesses were Mesdames Spraggs, Fleming and Campbell.
