PIRONGIA NEWS

The Pirongia Hall was well filled on Thursday night, the occasion being to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs Mounsey and family who are leaving the district. A gift evening to Miss Una Mounsey and Mr Jack Butler who are shortly to be married. Aircraftsman John Edwards was also honoured. Mr Jack Grace, speaking on behalf of the many friends of Mr and Mrs Mounsey, presented them with two handsome fireside chairs. Mr Grace also presented Mr R. Mounsey with a farewell gift from the Tennis Club. Maurice and Ella, two younger members of the family, also received gifts. Mr A. Mounsey suitably replied. Next on behalf of the friends of Miss U. Mounsey and Mr J. Butler were asked by Mr Reg Bell to accept a large array of gifts as a token of the esteem in which they are held in the district. Mr J. Butler suitably replied. Mr J. Livingstone then spoke to Aircraftsman John Edwards, and in presenting him with a parting gift, wished him on behalf of all the people “good flying” and a “safe landing.” Aircraftsman Edwards thanked the people in a neat speech. Dancing continued till midnight, excellent music being supplied by Mr Fred Beet.
