WASTE OF BENZINE

Sir, —Would you please publish this letter in regard to the wastage of benzine? The Minister for Supply stresses the need to conserve benzine supplies for the war. What about the wastage in the Government Departments? Take the Education Department. On the Ngahape school bus run, an empty bus runs from Te Te Awamutu every school morning empty, returning full of children. The children are returned after school and the bus then returns empty, a distance of about twenty-six miles daily run empty, when the bus could be garaged at the old Cross Road school or elsewhere. This is happening on other school bus runs, so the wastage of benzine daily must be very large. lam not against the school bus. I consider that they are necessary in the country districts, but do not see the reason for the wastage in benzine.—Yours, etc., A. W. GALLAGHER. Ngahape.
