LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

“A BIT OF MUSIC” Sir, —“ Self-reliant,” as he calls himself at the bottom of a letter to the Editor in regard to the benzine problem, should be a gentleman enough to use his proper name and not hide behind a steel door. He refers to the Borough Foreman (Mt R. H- Close) using a pint of benzine to go to the Park to take all the gear and part of some of the big instruments which we have to play and carry from place to place. If the writer of the letter who calls himself “ Self-reliant ” had any idea of music, which in my estimate he has not, he would not try to dictate to the Oil Fuel Controller, who should, I think, use his own discretion 1 think three-parts of the people of Te Awamutu are musically inclined, and also, I would say, lovers of music. I am writing on behalf of some of my friends who, like myself, have spent a small fortune in music, and they try to lighten the burden of the people in every-day life by a bit of music. I am one of many who give their time to the public. I do not mind doing this, and do not expect anything from it, but it hurts one’s feelings, after reading his letter, to think that a person’s time is wasted. After all, we are doing all we can to give the citizens and country people of Te Awamutu a bit of music. Camfry-am-byth (“Wales for Ever”). —I am, etc., C. DAVIDSON.
