A MUSICAL TREAT
ROYAL AUCKLAND MALE CHOIR. CONCERT IN TE AWAMUTU. Reports indicate that patrons of the concert being given to-morrow evening in Te Awamutu by the Royal Auckland Male Choir are in for a real musical treat, for the choir, established something like forty years ago, is a very talented combination. The concert is to be given in the assembly hall of the new Intermediate School, Alexandra Street, and conditions there are said to be almost ideal for such a purpose. The choir will number ovef sixty voices, and will be singing under the baton of Mr Harry Woolley, the popular and capable conductor, while Mr Allan Pow will be the pianist. Only on rare occasions is the choir heard outside of Auckland City’, so Te Awamutu is honoured by the visit here. It should be stated that the choir is not coming with the object of gaining finance for itself. The visit is very largely a compliment to one of the members, Mr J. Sanderson, the contractor for the erection of the magnificent new school here, and that gentleman has gone to a lot of trouble and not a little personal expense to ensure that the choir is able to present the concert, attractively. Furthermore, he has arranged that any proceeds from the concert shall be a donation from the School Committee’s funds—a generous gesture, indeed. It is to be hoped that the choir will be welcomed by a full house to-mor-row night.
