SOCIAL FUNCTIONS

FAREWELL AT MANGAPIKO. PRESENTATION MADE., An afternoon was tendered to Mrs A. J. Taylor at the Mangapiko Hall on Wednesday to bid farewell to her prior to leaving the district. Mrs Taylor’s departure was regretted by all present as she has been a very willing worker in the district. After tea had been served, Mrs Taylor was asked to accept two pieces of crystal as a mark of appreciation from the ladies of the district, with every good wish for the future happiness of both Mr and Mrs Taylor, who shortly leave to reside in New Plymouth. Mrs Taylor suitably replied.

ENJOYABLE EVENING AT KAPEPUKU.

YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUB DANCE. A highly enjoyable and well attended dance in the Kakepuku Hall on Wednesday evening has given great encouragement to the organisers, the Kakepuku Young Farmers' Club, in their first attempt at a new departure in their activities. The excellence of the floor of the local hall is much appreciated by dancers, and this combined with populai music, a plentiful supper and the well known enthusiasm of the club members attracted a crowd which comfortably filled the hall with patrons not only from the surrounding district but visitors from further afield, among whom there was a good attendance of members of the Otorohanga Young Farmers’ Club. The evident enjoyment of all has led the club to arrange for another dance on a future occasion which will be advertised at a later date. The M.C. for the evening was Mr B. Boswell; and the Monte Carlo was won by Mrs A. S. Clarke and Mr W. Dickey. Among the dancers present were: Misses C. Osmond and P. Farmer (Otorohanga), B. Wight (Wellington), V. Lee (Whangarei), R. Williams, V. Jackson, M. McVerry, E. Gray, A. Ray, J. West, P. Melville, E. Taylor, D. Clements, G. Penny, M. Gray and N. Brabner.
