Miss Ivy Holmes of Maihiihi, left yesterday for Te Kawa where she is staying with Mrs Bruce.

Mr A. R. Harding, of Hamilton, has been appointed chief auctioneer for the Waikato for Dalgety and Co. Ltd.

Miss M. Holmes, of Maihiihi, left on Thursday night for Palmerston where she has taken a position.

Mrs H. Bert, of Gisborne, is spending a holiday in Maihiihi and is the guest of Mi’s D. Bartieman.

The engagement is announced of Dulcie, Leile Prince, of Papakura. youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs E. D. Prince, of Kihikihi, to Robert Thomas Radnor Addis, of Hamilton, youngest son of Mr and Mrs G. Addis, of Townsville, Australia.

The engagement is announced of Stacey Victorine, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs N. H. Street, The Grange Wlaimauku (late of Te Kawa and Maihiihi), to Henry Walmsley (Mick), third son of Mr and Mrs Sylvester Smith, of Kaeo, Whangaroa, North Auckland.

It is with regret that we announce to his many friends that Mr Win. Ryan, the well known caretaker for the Waipa Racing Club, has had to enter the Waikato Hospital for further treatment. He has been indisposed for some time past, and it is thought that an operation may be necessary.

After a mission overseas of ten months’ duration, during which he conducted trade negotiations with Great Britain and several foreign countries, and also represented New Zealand at the Imperial Conference, the Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash, returned to the Dominion by the Mataroa, which arrived at Auck land on Saturday morning. Mr Nash, who was given an enthusiastic reception on his arrival, was accompanied by Mrs Nash and members of his staff.
