SILVER WEDDING
A LOCAL CELEBRATION. The twenty-fifth anniversary of the wedding of Mr and Mrs. R. Collins was celebrated at their residence, Rewi Street, on Friday last, when Mrs Collins entertained a number of lady friends. A very enjoyable afternoon was spent, conversation relating to past land present events being mostly the order of the day. On Saturday Mr Collins entertained the menfolk, when cards were selected for the occasion, euchre, five hundred, and crib being played until the early hours of the morning. Mrs Collins provided a very tasty supper, which was done full justice by those present. Afterwards, in a neat little speech, Mr H. A. Reed thanked the happy couple for the generous evening they had provided for their friends, and congratulated Mr land Mrs Collins on reaching the twenty-fifth anniversary of their married life, and wished them continued health and happiness for many more years to come. Mr Collins responded by providing “ the cup that cheers,” and it really did cheer. The singing of “ For They are Jolly Good Fellows ” brought the pleasant occasion to a close.
