WEDDING BELLS
BATTSON—STEWART. A pretty wedding of Te Awamutu interest took place at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Feilding, on the 17th inst., when the contracting parties were Francis F. M. Battson, only son of Mrs and the late Charles F. Battson, of Te Awamutu, and Mavis Winifred Stewart, daughter of Mr and the late Mrs H. G. Stewart, of Feilding. The bride was daintily attired in ivory sheerlan lace, slim fitting, and flaring to an oval train inset with satin panels, cowl neck and embroidered lace veil with pearl coronet. She carried a bouquet of St. Joseph lilies, white camelias, and maidenhair fern. Miss Edna Stewart, sister of the bride, was the bridesmaid, wearing peach sheerlan lace, with fagoted godets in satin, flaring to the train, silver flowers and ribbon finishing to the waistline, and a coronet of silver flowers. Her bouquet was of shaded pink camellias, gypsophylla, and maidenhair fern, tied with silver ribbon. Master Noel Hostick was the page bey, dressed in a blue satin suit with lace jabot and frilled cuffs. Mr Clarence E. Humphrey carried out the duties of best man. The church had been most effectively decorated by friends of the bride, in toning shatus of peach, and a large white wedding bell of roses was a feature. The officiating minister was the Rev. A. L. Dixon. After the ceremony a reception was held in the Beresford Tearooms. Miss V. Stewart (sister of the bride), receiving the guests, assisted by Mrs C. F. Battson. The threetiered wedding cake was iced in white and silver. Guests were present from Wellington, Te Horo, Palmerston North, New Plymouth, Tailmarunui, Te Awamutu, and Auckland. Later, MY and Mrs Battson departed for the north, the bride travelling in a navy costume, with hat and accessories to match, and carrying a fur stole. They are making their home in Te Awamutu.
