THE TUI MINE
COMPANY TO BE FORMED WITH £35,000 CAPITAL An application was made at the Warden’s Court, Te Aroha, yesterday, before Mr Salmon, Warden, for protection for the Tui Special Quartz Mine. The application was by Joseph Hankin, for whom Mr Gilchrist, instructe by Messrs Clendon and Vollimairej Thames, appeared. Mr Gilchrist stated that Mr W. M. Gimson, mining engineer, had been making investigations for the past six months and had prepared a report, which being of a confidential nature he did not wish to read, but would hand it to the Warden for perusal. The prospects of the mine were good and a company was about to be formed with London and New Zealand capital of £35,000. Protection had been granted on three occasions previously for periods totalling 18 months, but during the past six months the mine had been worked according to the Act.
The Warden said that after reading the report and hearing Mr Gilchrist, he was quite satisfied and would grant protection for six months.
