Mr C. H. C. Worthington returned to his home in Rotorua on Tuesday.

Mr G. H. Nicholls left Te Aroha on Monday "for Wellington, where be will spend a few days.

Hon. J. G. Coates, Minister of Public Works, and a party of eight others are due to arrive at Tauranga on Saturday next. Included in the party are Mr R. W. McVilly (General Manager of Railways) and Mr F. W. Furkert (Under-Secretary of the Public Works Department).

Mr C. E. Macmillan, M.P., left Tauranga on Tuesday morning fop Auck- f ., land. He will return to Tauranga . during this week to meet the. Hon. J, G. Coates, and will return to Te Aroha to meet the Hon. W. Noswor- . thy and the Hon. R. F. Bollard here on Monday, December 3rd, on which date it is now arranged the Ministers will be in Te Aroha.

Mr S. Callaway, the one-time noted representative cricketer, died in the Christchurch hospital on Monday. In his day Syd Callaway was one of Australia’s finest bowlers, while he was also a free, punishing bat. He was an Australian Eleven man. He came to New Zealand 20 years ago, and played for Lancaster Park and Riccarton, also representing Canterbury and New .Zealand. He had a wonderfully easy delivery, and his ac- v; curacy was remarkable. The batsmen could never take liberties with him, and at “thinking” a man out he had .. '.g few equals in the Dominion.
