The Ohinemnri County Council invite tenders returnable up to 4th March for some Jen different contracts for roads, bridge, and drainage works. Monday next has been appointed a special bank h diday for the branches of the Bank of New Zealand. Particulars of 48 acres for sale by tender can be seen at this office. Tenderers shown over the ground at 2 p.m on 6th March. The Piako County iuvite tenders for various road works at Morrinsville and Te Aroha.

e The chi’dren attending itlie Te Aroha School were given a musical treat on Thursday afternoon, for which they are indebted to the generosity of the Chairman of the School Committee (R. L Somers, Esq.) The little ones marched to the grounds in charge of the headmaster and his assistants. We bag to acknowledge receipt from Messrs Thus Cook and Son <’ Auckland agent of a c >py of the sixth edition of their hand-book, entitled “ New Zealand as a Tourist and Health Resort,” considerably enlarged and revised to date The information is given in a concise and readable form such as is sought by the tourist or intendingvisitor to this favoured Dominion, and, judging from previous editions, we think we can safely assert that this little work is more in demand among the travelling pnblic than any other publication of its kind yet issued. Like previous editions, 10,000 copies are printed, and distributed gratis to all enquirers throughout the world. Messrs Dalgcty and Coy. report having held a clearing sale at Waihou on account of Messrs Lamey Bros , ou Tuesday, 23rd inst. They also offered a good outside entry of cattle, sheep and horses. There was a very large attendance and bidding was brisk throughout. The stock, machinery, farm implements and sundries all sold at very satisfactory prices and the following prices were realised for stock: Draught horses from £24 to £45; light harness horses, £l2 to £25 ; light hacks, £7 to £lB 10s; dairy cows, £4 15s to £7 10s ; lambs. 8s to 8s 9d; ewes, 11s 3d to 13s 3d ; weth* rs, 10s 6d.
