Melbourne, December 8 At a meeting to-day, the Dean of Melbourno presiding, it was resolved to carry out the proposal of the British and Foreign Biblo Society to commomoiate the Queen's tTnbileo by presenting every Frotestimt S\.ato richool pupil in Victoria with a small Testament bearing Her Majesty's autogiaph. 240,000 copies will boitquirtd, and tho estimated coat is £1,350, which is intended to be raised by subecription. Tho board of management of the Scots Ohm-ph have decided to invite the Uev Dr. Cameron Lees, of St. Giles'B, Edinburgh, or come prominent minipterof tho Established Church of Scotland, to come to Melbourne and occupy tho pulpit of Scots Church for six month 3. The proposal was brought undei the notice of the Presbytery to-day for sanction, and it is expected that the Presbytery will acquiesce. Peter A. O'Farrell, solicitor, who gained notoriety in 18S1 by shooting at the late Archbishop Goold, was arrested to day on a chargo of having threatened to take the life of Wm Lane, his brother in -law. Jt was alleged that Mr Lane was a trustee under O'Farrell'a will, and they recently quarrelled about a settlement. Angry letter? passed between them, and the last from O'Farroll contained the threat complained of O'Fairell, who is well-known in the city, is 60 years of age.
