RELIGIOUS EDUCATION IN VICTORIA.
Melbourne, December 7. A. deputation from the Preabyterian General Assembly waited upon tho Minister of Educati n fo-day, urging a strong desire of that Church fchat the Education Act bo amended so as to secure the introduction oi religious instruction into the State schools ; to secure a large measure of local control, and to freo the teachers from their present di 3 abilities in imparting religious instruction outside school hours. Mr Pdaraou gave much the same answer as to a previous deputation which waited upon him on the same subject. Ho pointed out tho difficulties in the way of granting the requests of cha deputation, and held out uo hoDe that he would recommend the (xorexnrnent to adopt the views submitted.
