THE NORTH POLE. Colonel Gilder Determined, to Reach It if Possible.
Nkw York, June 3.— Colonel William H, Gilder lectured before the American Yacht Club on Tuesday night, on his proposed search for the north pole. He said his plaa is to go to the Upper Hudson Bay territory, and spend the present summer in collecting a party of four or five native hunters with their wives and families. If he fails to get the right people he will go to Cumberland inlet and recruit a party there. The next seapon will be spent in pushing north to Cape Sabine, thence to Fort Conger, and in the spring of 18S8 or 18S9 he expects to make his dash for the pole. He says : " If I fail to reach the pole itself, I hope to make *uf£ciently high latitude to break the record."
