AN ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. A Spanish Nobleman's Mind Unhinged by Overwork.
New York, June 5.— The "(Herald's " Madrid correspondent says that Count Thigueus, Governor of Madrid, attempted' suicide la&t week, and did not shoot himself accidentally. For some time past the Count, who is much liked and respected had shown signs of abnormal nervous excitement. He was affected with a monomania that he was the object of persecution, and would often work himself into a state of frenzy at the thought 1 of imaginary plots to take his life or ruin his reputation. Overwork and anxiety in the discharge of h.s functions had worn out his iron constitution, and. he suffered martyrdom from neuralgia, which affected first his face and finally his brain. Ifc is still doubtful whether he will recover.
