NEWS AND NOTES. From Our Own Correspondent A meeting of the patriotic executive was held in the Borough Council Chambers, the Mayor (Mr E. Galbraith) presiding. Dr Valintine, Chief Health Officer, wrote that a returned soldier, on recurrence of the disability for which he was discharged, could obtain medical 'attendance free, under conditions to be laid down by the District Health Officer. The following resolution was carried:—"That the Minister of Lands be I asked to arrange that all education leases and other reserves falling in | during the next three years be set aside i for allocation to returned soldiers."
