NEW MENTAL HOSPITAL.
A DUNEDIN RUMOUR.
The Dunedin "Star" reports that the Health Department hail decided to establish a mental hospital at Lyttc.l- -
Seen in connection with the matter this morning, Dr Gribben, Superintendent of the Mental Hospital at Sunnyside, said the report was evidently based on a statement made by the Minister of Public Health (the Hon. G. W. Russell) last session. The Minister then said lie had under consideration the making of provision for a class of mental case's whose relatives were able to pay for increase'! attention and comfort. "But, as far as the establishment of a hospital at Lyttelton is concerned," added the doctor, "1 have heard nothing of such a proposal,'and am afraid that the report emanating from Dunedin was based on a rumour, am! one at tiiat which is unlikely to rest on a very secure foundation."
