FIRE BRIGADES.
CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION'S DEMONSTRATION.
A meeting of the executive of the Canterbury Tire Brigades' Association was held at the Christchurch Fire Station, when Captain Carson (Lyttclton) presided. The following brigades were represented:—Christchurch City, Cliristchurch Railway, Addington Workshops, New .Brighton, Sumner, Ashburton, Gcraldine, and Kniapoi. Arrangements for the forthcoming demonstration at Sunnier on Labour Day were discussed. It was decided to accept the oiler of various brigades to lend the necessary gear. It Mas decided lo commence the demonstration at 8 a.m. The following entries have been received: ■ —One-man coupling event, 10; two-men coupling, 15; Hire'-men hose and hydrant event, it; five-men reel event, 0; schoolboys' coupling event, 18. It was decided that the points for the competition shield, presented by the residents of Sumner, should count as follows: —Five-men evejit, 8, C, 4, 2; three-men event, fi, 4, 2, 1; two-nun event, G, 4, 2, 1; one-mail event, 4, I!, 2, 1. j The following ollicials were appointed for the demonstration:— j Judges and Examiners.—Superintendent \V.
