At the Prize Court the SolicitorGeneral produced an affidavit by Major Dillon of the War Office staff "' in which he estimates the numbers off people receiving supplies from the German Government. He states that there are four millions under arms in both fronts- and 750,000 in training. Casualties totstaled about two milliftfts; the' railways employed about half tf million; Krupp's and other factories, 750,000; while mines, and other war ..work absorbed 2,000,000. These, with their dependents, probably aggregate 20,000,000 and the figures were given as proof that the bulk of the imports to Germany are wanted' for war workers.
