WAIAU RAILWAY.
..At a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Waiau Railway League the 'following resolution was carried: i : 'That a request be sent to the Hon. W. Fraser, Minister of Public Works, asking for information as to the commencement and progress of the second and third contracts, and whether there can be any exception to the Government taking the settlers into their confidence in regard to those matters; and, further, in view of the amount of unemployed in the Canterbury district, and the vast quantity of material lying ready at the station head at'Cudverden, .andin view also of the urgent necessity of railway communication to the district, the Government be urged to speed up the ;onstruction of the Culverden-Waiaii railway to the greatest possible extent.
