SITTINGS CONCLUDED. Prear. Association. WELLINGTON, October 0. The executive committee of the Baptist Union of New Zealand concluded its sittings to-day. It was decided to erect a memorial tablet to the late Eev. Charles Carter in the Auckland Tabernacle, to record his great achievements as a translator and scholar, and his connection with the union as its first president and founder of the Missionary Society. Mr Harold Goring, of Christchurch, •was accepted as a ministerial student for entrance to the Theological Hall. The Rev. W. H. Hinton was appointed manager of the l ' Baptist'' newspaper, in the stead of the Rev. E. 11. Hobday, who is leaving on a visit to England./ The Rev. Knowles Hempton presented the annual report of the Board of Introduction and Advice, which was received and adopted. The budget for the year was considered and approved, grants being made to the following churches: —Whangarei Mission, £72; Cambridge, £45; Tauranga, £4O; Epsom, £4.1; Morrinsville,'£os; Otahuhu, £36; Richmond, £45; Takapnna, £45; Auck : land Auxiliary, £4O; Feilding, £27; Hastings, £18;" Okahune, £SI; Smithfield, £23; Wanganui East, £25; Wellington Auxiliary £ls; Kaiapoi and Rangiora, £27; East Oxford. £18; Lower Riccarton, £ls; Timaru, £4O; Gore, £7O; North Invercargill, £75. The Foreign Missionary Budget was passed, authorising an expenditure of £3463. The conference is to sit in Auckland next year. Special importance was attached to the fact that, notwithstanding the industrial troubles of the past year, the disturbance of trade and,' social conditions occasioned by the War, the various activities and funds of the~ denomination had been-maintained in a thoroughly sound and' satisfactory state.
