The victim of the Dunsandel railway crossing accident was Mr David Collard Stock, who was a well-known figure in mid-Canterbury. The surname was ac cidentally omitted in the report of the inquest.
At the Lyttelton Magistrate's Court this morning, before Mr J. K. Webb, J.P., John Patrick Kelly, who had been charged with helpless drunkenness ou August 24, and who had been remanded for a week's medical treatment, was ordered to pay 17/6 medical expenses, in default 24 hours' imprisonment.
Two more offers of sections have been received by the Labour Department in connection with the present, unemployment, one section being in St. Albans and the other on the Port Hills.
The Canterbury College authorities advise that entries for all college examinations, including those iu connection with the School of Engineering, close tomorrow at 5 p.m.
Two small youths, Romero Swanston and Frank Jarnett, residents of Durham Street, made a more or less triumphal procession to the Police Station to-day accompanied by "Poko," a* ferociouslooking bulldog. Presumably the animal was a participator in the Bulldog Show of Saturday, for he had travelled from Dunedin, if the address on his collar was reliable. The legend on the collar read "Poko," J.
