VETERAN SHOT DEAD.

General Hiram Duryea, an octogenarian and Civil War veteran, was shot dead by his insane son at Brooklyn: The madman, who fired seven shots, subsequently summoned the police by telephone, and when they arrived welcomed them in a bedroom with elaborate courtesy.
