At the fortnightly . meeting ,of ,'th® Loyal Amberley Oddfellows' Lodge the following delegates were .elected; to attend the, annual district meeting to'be held at Bangipra on Saturday, March.' 7;— P.G. Br6. H. Martin, P.T.G.M. Pro. G. B. Holton, and G.M. Bro.' V. J. Ehodes. The rainfall recorded at Glenmark, '' "Waipara, for the week eliding March 1 was .68 inches.

The quarterly meeting of the Hurunui Licensing Committee lapsed t/for want of a quorum and wai adjourned until April 6. ; Threshing operations in and around the Amberley district have been in full swing, for the last six or. seven weeks, and fariners generally.. are busy turning over the . ground, preparatory to sowing the winter and autumn seed* The district generally is beginning to show a dry appearance, and tho blight is appealing, in some of the rape and turnip crops. A good shower of > rain would be welcome. '
On Monday evening a light nor '-west shower of rain fell, but not' sufficient to be of much benefit.
