KAIAPOI REGATTA. ;

It Tias been decided that the regatta held on the at Kaiapoi shall take place on the 2&h of ■* this month. The programme includes double sculls Taces, a motor boat%race, ; youths' and maide,a and a 'ladies' double-sculling race, a 50yds swimming race, and two novelty-events. The first is a, "human trout" test, in which fishermen : are to playswimmers, and the second a refinement of the familiar greasy .pole. The pole is ta be sloped downwards, and a barrel set so that it will slide along it; each competitor will be asked astride the barrel and ride it to the prize if r he can. - Prizes are offered for the best decorated punts. A " dark town'' crew will provide the necessary fun. It is expected that the local club will be represented in all rowing events, and that there will be at least seven Starters in k the niotor boat race, , ; / , >
