ADVISORY COMMITTEE
ASSISTING RAILWAYS COMMISSION MEMBERS IN AUCKLAND Acting independently ot the Railways Commission, an advisory committee consisting of Messrs. D. K. Blair and L. Linton Cole, ot Wellington, has been appointed by the Government to assist the commission in reporting on questions relating to the operations of railway workshops. Yesterday, after arriving in Auckland in the morning, the members of the committee inspected the Otahuhu workshops. The committee will probably hear evidence from departmental officers. All the chief railway centres will be visited, and a report will be made to the Railways Commission. Mr. Blair is a well-known consulting mechanical engineer of Wellington, and is a prominent member of several engineering: organisations. Mr. Cole is secretary of the New Zealand Society of Civil Engineers. He was formerly secretary of the Indian Railway Board, and subsequently chief mechanical engineer to the BengalNagpur railways.
