ROLL OF HONOUR

REQUEST FOR ALL NAMES MEETING OF COMMITTEE A report on the funds received by the Auckland Provincial Roll of Honour Committee was submitted to a meeting of the committee yesterday afternoon by Mr. E. H. Sharp, the secretary. Mr. A. C. A. Sexton presided. The total subscriptions received to date amounted to it 4,420 12s 2d. Interest on this amount was £BS 8s 4d. The sum invested at call was £4,366 13s 4d, at 5 per cent., and £lB 15s at 4£ per cent., totalling £4,385 8s 4d. Expenditure to date was £B9 0s lid, and the balance at bank is £3l 11s 3d. The meeting resolved to settle £3,000 on fixed deposit at 5£ per cent, for 12 months, leaving approximately £1,500 in hand. The roll at present contains 6,015 names, and it is expected that there are yet 600 or 700 names to come of those who have died since discharge, as the result of war service. It was explained by the chairman that the list of names as at present compiled had been checked over page by page as it was typed, and was as accurate @.s it could possibly be made. The committee desires that next-of-kin throughout the province should #hake certain that all names are included in the roll before work is commenced, and the Press is to be asked to collaborate to this enej. A vote of thanks to the Press for its valuable assistance to the cause since its commencement was passed. Mr. Draffin submitted two different styles of lettering at the meeting, and the committee decided that the more suitable would be letters three-quar-ters of an inch in height, with a threequarter inch space between names. Ho was asked to obtain samples of white and coloured marble from New Zealand and Sicilian quarries for the inspection of the committee at its next meeting.
