ART UNION IN SCHOOL

CHURCH BODY PROTESTS CHILDREN AND GAMBLING Press Association DUNEDIN, Today. A resolution condemning an art union which was used to raise funds at a carnival organised by the Caversham School has been passed unanimously by the Council of Christian Congregations. The resolution is as follows: “That this meeting enters an emphatic protest against the running of an art union in connection with the Caversham public school carnival, and considers that those concerned in the organisation have done a most reprehensible thing in bringing the children of the school and the community into close alliance with the gambling evil. It requests the Otago Education Board to make a close investigation into the matter so as to prevent a recurrence.”
