MORRINSVILLE NOTES
A big land deal is involved in connection with the purchase of the Tahorakuri block, between the Waikato Bridge and the Wairakei-Rotorua-Taupo Road, for private afforestation purposes. The area involved is in the neighbourhood of 30.000 acres. • * * The report of the Morrinsville Borough solicitoi's on the legal position arising from tho request of the Plunket Society for the usq of a portion of the rest ground to erect new rooms, stated that the title of the rest ground was vested in the council as a. reserve and could not be used for any other purpose. It was possible, however, to change the purpose of the reserve by Order-in-Council. The Mayor said that apparently the question was one in which the council had no power to move. An Order-in-Council was not a costly affair, and he moved that the question be referrd to the finance committee for consideration. * ♦ * The following members of the Morrinsville Badminton Club have entered for various events at the thampioriship tournament being held at Auckland next week: —F. W. Wilkes. C. Mallett. J. Hawkin. A. Thomas, K. Hopkins, H. Pirrit, X. Bryant. Mrs. Wilkes, Misses A. Thomas, J. Cornish, D. Cargill, F. Hawkins, D. Watts, G. Eastwood, K. Allman, F. Hewitt.
