STILL GOING

New Zealand Horses For Sydney SEVEN ON THE ULIMAROA (Special to THE SUN) WELLINGTON, Friday. Another batch of horses was shipped from Wellington to Sydney today. The total was seven, and it included the champion two-year-old of last season, Mr. G. D. Greenwoo’d’s Honour. He was accompanied by Juleux, who was seen in action at Riccarton during the recent racing. The other five -horses belong to Mr. G. M. Currie, of Wanganui. Four of them are juveniles. The fifth is the brood mare, Pennon, who is to be mated with the stallion Moabite, for whom it has been understood for a while past Mr. Currie has acquired a regard. Ceremony, who also made the trip, was a good two-year-old last season, and he is reported to have done well in his work at Wanganui in recent weeks. He is intended fo t early racing and is to have his first race on the other side in two weeks’ time if all goes well with him. That is at Canterbury Park on September 7. The Youngsters Another three-year-old member of Mr. Currie’s team is Pedestal, by Thespian out of Eulogy. He has not raced, but has done fairly good track work. Pomp and Drastic are two-year-olds, and they have a special interest inasmuch as they are the last of the stock of that great sire of sprinters, Absurd. They are out of Pomyris and Drax, two mares Mr. Currie imported from England. Pomp is a candidate for honours in the Australian Jockey Club’s Breeders’ Plate, which has been won in the past by New Zealanders, and last year was annexed by Gold Tinge. Pomp did very pleasing work prior to leaving Wanganui. The team came down in the care of Walter Rayner. Mr. Currie, the owner, expects to leave in a week’s time and thus should be there to see Ceremony, the first of the team to race, take his place under silk on Australian soil. Both teams are due back in New Zealand about the middle of October. If they adhere to this plan they will be here in time for the Wellington spring meeting, but there is no certainty they will race at that fixture. It has been mentioned here that today’s is the last batch of horses which will be shipped to Australia during the present spring, but it is possible that at least two other owners will go across yet and take horses with them.
