Mr. J. R. Schischka, teacher at the Otauiti School, having been transferred to Kaitaia, was given a farewell by the parents, scholars and friends, who assembled at the house ot Mr. Wood, chairman of the School Committee. A most pleasant social evening was spent. Dur :ng the evening Mr. Wood presented Mr. Schischka with a silver cigarette case, suitably inscribed. Various speakers referred to the excellent work done by Mr. Schischka. The latter suitably replied. * * * The Borough Council at a special meeting last evening decided to ask the consent of the Loans to Local Bodies Board to the raising of £4,000 for the constiucting of a main highway through the borough*
