DELAYED ACCOUNTS

PROTEST BY EDUCATION BOARD Delayed accounts regarding the share of the Auckland Education Board in the expenses of educational conference excited an objection from the board today. Payment of £39, representing the exiDenses of several conferences, was asked. For the board to have received delayed accounts was considered by the chairman, Mr. A. Burns, to be unfair. “The cost for a conference is £8 and I think the account should be presented to us annually,” Mr. Burns said. “We should pay under protest against the delay.” A Member: There is another point —we should have larger representation at the conferences. Mr. S. B. Sims: We want quality, not quantity. Discussing conference expenses, Mr. G. Brownlee gave it as his view that there were too many small education boards, which should be amalgamated. On Mr. Burns’s motion, payment will be made and a protest against the delay in presenting the accounts will be sent. Mr. R. Hoe had his appreciation of the work of the Auckland delegates and their reports, recorded.
