Harris, announced the appointment of the following committees: Finance, Crs. W. Madgwick, A. S. Fisher, J. Motion and \Y. E. Hale; Works, Crs. C. W Parfitt, J. A. Reid, F. J. Mayn and W. McDuff; and Water. Crs. C. W Parfitt and J. Motion. t -' r * YV. Madgwick was appointed representative on the District Council Main Highways Board. The chairman’s honorarium was fixed at £ 100. The opinion that it was not desirable to have tall fescue declared a noxious weed, was received from the Minister of Agriculture. Members the view that the Hon. G. W. Forbes would change his opinion as the result of his visit. The engineer, Mr. F. Basham, recommended the sealing with bitumen of one mile of road in each riding every year out of revenue. The swing bridge at Kaihere was in a dangerous condition, and the ; question arose whether it should b* ; replaced or whether a traffic bridge j should be erected now or deferred until later. It was decided that the engineer and riding member should report on the subject. The Minister of Public YV’orks advised that he was prepared to favourably consider a grant for Campbells Road, Kopuarahi. It wis decided to apply for £250.
