ONE BOARD WANTED
DRAINING WOODLANDS SWAMP (From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, To-day. The need for the amalgamation of all drainage boards operating in the woodlands swamp was stressed at a meeting of the committee appointed recently by a conference of drainage boards to investigate the scheme. That the major development scheme* in the Komakorau and Manga war a districts were too big for the settlers concerned is the opinion of Mr. L. R. W. Reid. He thought the Government should realise the importance of clearing the lower reaches of these rivers, as the effect of drainage in the Upper Mangawara had been to flood lands near the outlet. Surveys are to be made of the Hoeo, Tainui and Tauhei basins by the Lands Department.
