Baker Gaoled for Theft In the Supreme Court at Christchurch to-day, for breaking- and entering and theft, Edmund Harrington Ward, aged 24, a baker, was sentenced to three years’ reformative detention. —P.A. Car Burned at Mangere The five-seater motor-car, owned by Mr. W. H. Pankhurst, Great South Road, which was removed from the garage at his home between midnight and 8 o’clock this morning, has been found burnt at Westney Road, Mangere, by the Onehunga police. Fire In the City,—Fire broke out about 11.30 this morning on the premises of McKendrick Bros., bottle and sack merchants, in Wellington Street. The City Fire Brigade turned out promptly and prevented any serious damage being done. The cause of the fire was an overheated motor.
