SUNDAY RECITAL
Mr. Maughan Barnett, the city organist, played eight numbers in the recital on Sunday night, and the merit and variety of the programme was appreciated by more than 500 people.
Bach’s “Prelude and Fugue in ID Minor” (“The Violin”), opened the recital, and it was followed by the slow majesty of Widor’s “Adagio from Suite Latine.” “The Spring Song,” Menmelssohn’s ever-popular melody, and his “Two Songs Without Words,” came next. Basil Harwood’s “Sonata” and “Pensses du Soir” (Ellingwood) were also played. An arrangement of “Vesper Bell” for organ and chimes pleased the audience, and the programme concluded with “Grand Choeur” (Guilmant).
