MOUNT EDEN FIRE

When visitors called at the house of Mr. Haite, in Owen’s Road. Mount Eden, about 3.30 p.m. yesterday, they found the building full of smoke. The fire brigade weer at once summoned. On gaining an entry, they found that a mattress was burning in one of the bedrooms, and that the flames were spreading to the walls. A few buckets of water were sufficient to subdue the outbreak, little damage being done. Mr. Haite was away from home at the time
